Yusof Ghani is a prominent Malaysian artist celebrated for his innovative contributions to contemporary art. Born in 1950 in Johor, Yusof pursued his artistic education at the National Art Gallery of Malaysia and later studied at George Mason University in Virginia, USA in 1979. His diverse body of works often explores themes of identity, culture, and the human experience. Yusof’s works often reflect social issues, emphasizing the importance of storytelling in art. He employs symbolism to address the complexities of Malaysian identity, particularly in a multicultural society. His artistic journey has led to numerous solo exhibitions both locally and internationally, establishing him as a significant figure in the Southeast Asian art scene.

This series Segerak, or “in unison” art piece, is all about intensity, feeling, and coordinated movements. Although it has changed over time, the core idea that human needs, wants, emotions, and desires are a single force that motivates humanity and transcends space and time has not changed.
