Yeoh Jin Leng belongs to the senior generation of Malaysian artists and therefore is highly regarded among his peers and respected for his work. Born in Ipoh and a graduate of the prestigious Chelsea School of art in London, he is not only a painter but also an academician. Yeoh has taught art at various prestigious schools and institutions while being granted awards such as the 1972 A.M.N. (Ahli Mangku Negara) Malaysian Government Award for Services to Art for his indelible patronage towards Malaysian art. He also sits on the National Gallery’s Board of Trustees. Trapped Series is a classical drawing of human forms situated within an enclosed three-dimensional space. The subtle modulation of human figures in movement with smooth curves highlight the arms and torso. Spatial depth is suggested with subtle shadows, expressing the play of light effects within the image.
