Duong Sen is a master artist of traditional lacquer painting in Vietnam. He was born in 1949 in Nghe An, Vietnam’s central province and joined the army during the war. He then studied art at Ho Chi Minh City Fine Arts University to fulfil his childhood dream of becoming a painter. Duong Sen has a great passion for traditional lacquer painting, and he has become an inspiration for young artists and is highly respected in the artist community in Vietnam. Duong Sen is famous for portraying Vietnamese ladies with flowers and topics of Vietnam’s traditional characteristic. He uses traditional natural pigments and colours.
